District-Level Lok Kalyan Diwas Observed in Kamrup

  • On August 5, 2026: The district-level observance of Lok Kalyan Diwas, commemorating the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, was held on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the Integrated District Commissioner's Office, Kamrup.Paying rich tributes to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, MLA Diganta Kalita recalled the immense contribution of Assam's first Chief Minister towards the state's progress and welfare. He highlighted Bordoloi's visionary leadership and significant initiatives, particularly in the field of administrative reforms, which continue to inspire public administration even today.MLA Prakash Chandra Das said that in recognition of the unparalleled contribution of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi to the nation, he was posthumously conferred the Bharat Ratna. He added that the Government observes Lok Kalyan Diwas every year on his death anniversary to honour his legacy and ideals of public service.MLA Raju Mesh congratulated the recipients of the Lok Kalyan Diwas Awards and appreciated their dedication and commitment towards public service.Addressing the gathering, District Development Commissioner Susanta Kumar Dutta urged officers and officials to work with sincerity, integrity and dedication for the welfare of the people. He encouraged non-gazetted employees to remain committed to public service and continue serving society with honesty and responsibility.As part of the district-level Lok Kalyan Diwas celebration, two dedicated government employees were honoured for their exemplary service. Niranjan Boro, DASA, Office of the District Commissioner, Kamrup, and Bhupen Das, Senior Assistant, Office of the District Malaria Officer, were presented with the Lok Sewa Puraskar.The programme was attended by CEO Zila Parishad, ADCs, head of departments and officials of Kamrup District Administration.
